FAQs
What is a regenerative farm?
A regenerative farm uses agricultural practices that restore and enhance the health of the soil, ecosystems, and environment. Unlike conventional farming, which often depletes soil nutrients and relies heavily on chemical inputs, regenerative farming focuses on rebuilding soil organic matter, improving biodiversity, and sequestering carbon. Key practices include:
• Cover cropping: Planting crops to cover soil, preventing erosion and enriching nutrients.
• Reduced tillage: Minimizing soil disturbance to maintain structure and organic matter.
• Composting and organic amendments: Adding natural materials to boost soil fertility.
• Managed grazing: Rotating livestock to mimic natural herd movements, enhancing soil and plant health.
These methods aim to create resilient, productive farms that combat climate change, improve water retention, and support long-term sustainability. Regenerative farming contrasts with industrial agriculture by prioritizing ecological balance over short-term yields.

How are your chickens raised on the ranch?
Our Cornish Cross broilers are a testament to sustainable farming done right. Our chicks are sourced from Metzer Farms, renowned for their exceptional genetics and vitality. These antibiotic free chicks are fed a starter crumble that is non-GMO and free of corn and soy. They spend their first three weeks in a nurturing temperature controlled brooder before moving to our lush pastures. There, they live in Pasture Tek mobile hoops, which we rotate regularly to enrich the soil and encourage natural foraging, embodying regenerative farming principles. After five weeks of thriving in this vibrant environment, our broilers are processed at Creston Valley Meats, a trusted USDA facility in Paso Robles, CA. The broilers are packaged as whole birds with an average finished weight of approximately 7 lbs, shrink wrapped and immediately frozen to -10 degrees to preserve freshness, ensuring a wholesome, farm-to-table experience that’s as sustainable as it is delicious.
Why do you use llamas for protection for the animals?
Llamas protect livestock on regenerative farms due to their territorial instincts, effectively deterring predators like coyotes with minimal training. Their low-maintenance care, soft hooves, and grazing habits align with regenerative goals, supporting soil health and sustainability. They bond with livestock, reduce predation (e.g., sheep losses dropped from 21% to 7% in a 1990 study), and integrate well into eco-friendly systems, though they’re less effective against large predators or in dense terrain.
